FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index Decreases 3.1% In September Amidst Global Market Volatility

The FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index closed September 2025 at 94,065.67 points, marking a 3.1% decrease from its August 2025 value of 97,031.12. This decline occurred amidst increased volatility in global financial markets, influenced by central bank actions and geopolitical events.

At the end of September, the top five exchanges by market capitalization were:

  • CME Group: USD97.36 billion 
  • Intercontinental Exchange: USD96.80 billion
  • Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing: USD72.03 billion
  • London StUSD50.78 billion

Herbie Skeete, Managing Director of Mondo Visione and Co-founder of the Index, commented on the period: "Global financial markets experienced a mixed month, buoyed by a resilient global economy, better-than-anticipated news regarding US trade tariffs, and the Federal Reserve's delivering a widely-expected quarter-point rate cut."

September Capital Returns Highlights:

In September, the Saudi Tadawul Group led in capital returns in U.S. dollars with a 21% increase in share price, followed by Croatia's Zagrebacka Burza (7.8% increase) and Miami International Holdings (7.1% increase). Conversely, Euronext was the worst performer with a 9.4% decrease, trailed by Deutsche Boerse (9% decrease) and London Stock Exchange Group (7.4% decrease).

Third Quarter 2025 Performance Overview:

The FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index fell 6.5% in the third quarter of 2025, contrasting with an 8.9% rise in the second quarter of 2025 and a 17.0% increase in the third quarter of 2024.

For the third quarter of 2025, the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange led in capital returns in U.S. dollars with a 113.4% increase, followed by Croatia's Zagrebacka Burza (86.4% increase) and the Nairobi Securities Exchange (63.7% increase). India's BSE was the worst performer with a 28.9% decrease, followed by London Stock Exchange Group (21.3% decrease) and Deutsche Boerse (17.5% decrease).

12-Month Capital Returns Perspective:

Over the past 12 months, Croatia's Zagrebacka Burza was the top performer in the FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index based on capital returns in USD, showing a remarkable 184.6% increase. The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange and Tel Aviv Stock Exchange also showed strong gains of 156.1% and 144.4%, respectively.

Romania's S.C. Bursa de Valori Bucuresti S.A. experienced the worst performance over the past 12 months with an 18.1% decrease in capital returns in USD, followed by Bursa Malaysia (16.5% decrease) and London Stock Exchange Group (16.4% decrease).
