EMEA Leads The Way In Stellar Month For FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index

Date 20/08/2013

Investors looking for steady performance should continue to explore the exchanges sector with the FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index up a stonking 17.4 per cent year-to-date, according to a report released today by Mondo Visione.

EMEA exchanges including London Stock Exchange, Dubai Financial Markets and Johannesburg Stock Exchange led the pack. Overall, most exchanges continued on the upward curve with gains made on share prices through July.

The Index*, which aims to reflect market sentiment and is a key indicator of the exchanges’ performance, saw a 2.1 per cent increase in July 2013.

Commenting on the Index which closed up at 26,669.98 on 31 July 2013, Herbie Skeete, Managing Director, Mondo Visione and Co-founder of the Index said:

“The London Stock Exchange Group has experienced strong performance in the last quarter with growth across all divisions. FTSE Group's performance has been stellar and LCH.Clearnet - in which LSE has a 58% stake - promises further growth on the back of regulators mandating central clearing of an increasing number of products, including interest rate swaps where SwapClear - owned by LCH.Clearnet - is beginning to see volume growth.”

The FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index best performer by capital returns in US dollars was London Stock Exchange with a 17.7 per cent increase in share price from 30 June to 31 July 2013. The next best performer was Dubai Financial Market with a 15.6 per cent increase over the same period.
