Exchange operators benefiting from solid trading volumes and a steady demand for hedging tools and investment products saw the FTSE Mondo Visione Index begin to level out of the downward trend experienced for most of the last two quarters.
The FTSE Mondo Visione Index fell 1.1% in October, closing the month at 57,848.64 points, down from the September close of 58,472.7

Multi Commodity Exchange of India was the best performer by capital returns in U.S. dollars, with a 23.9 per cent increase in share price from 1 October 2022 to 31 October 2022. The second-best performer was Brasil's B3, with a rise of 18.8 per cent, followed by the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, with a 14 per cent increase over the same period.
Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing was the worst performer by capital returns in U.S. dollars, with a 22.5 per cent decrease in share price from 1 October 2022 to 31 October 2022. Singapore Exchange was the second-worst performer with a 9.7 per cent decline, followed by Tanzania's Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange PLC with a 7.7 per cent decrease over the same period.
Herbie Skeete, Managing Director of Mondo Visione and Co-founder of the Index, said: "Despite the fall-off in initial public offerings, for exchanges with a strong interest-rate franchise or post-trade services, the volatile conditions have created pockets of opportunity."
