The Index, which aims to reflect market sentiment and is a key indicator of exchanges performance closed at 51,579.91 on 29 March 2019, down from 52,945.38 on 28 February 2019, a fall of 2.6%.

Herbie Skeete, Managing Director, Mondo Visione and Co-founder of the Index said:

“On both sides of the Atlantic investors are complaining that exchanges are putting up market data fees to offset weaker revenues from trading. The SEC is planning to upset the natural order whereby big firms get faster proprietary stock-data feeds and smaller players must rely on a much slower public ticker tape to make trading decisions. This move will likely be vigorously opposed by the exchanges who are already under attack by a group of nine leading retail broker-dealers, banks, financial services firms, and global market makers, who have set up a challenger equities exchange, MEMX, or Members Exchange. European regulators are beginning a review into the price of market data with ESMA due to deliver a report in December.”
