FTSE Mondo Visione Exchange Index 0.5 % Down In November But BME Up 41.2% On Back Of Potential Bidding War

The FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index, which aims to reflect market sentiment and is a key indicator of exchanges performance closed at 60,910.91 on 29 November 2019, down 0.5% on the month, up 23.3 % Year-to-Date and 18.1 % over 12 months (all in USD terms). The index set a new closing all-time high of 62,355.5 on 6 September 2019.

The FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index best performer by capital returns in US dollars was Bolsas y Mercados Espanoles with a 41.2 per cent increase in share price from 31 October 2019 to 29 November 2019. The next best performer was Moscow Exchange with a 10.9 per cent increase, followed by Nasdaq with a 5 per cent increase over the same period.

The FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index worst performer by capital returns in US dollars was the Bulgarian Stock Exchange with a 9.9 per cent decrease in share price from 31 October 2019 to 29 November 2019. This was followed by India's BSE with a 9.9 per cent decline and Tel Aviv Stock Exchange with a 9.8 per cent decrease over the same period.

Herbie Skeete, Managing Director, Mondo Visione and Co-founder of the Index said:

"This month saw shares in the BME soar as investors bet a bidding war would develop for the Spanish stock exchange operator, after SIX Group and Euronext signaled their interest in buying the business with Deutsche Boerse rumoured to be poised to throw its fedora into the ring. To date the only offer on the table is SIX's."
