As Markets Position For Ongoing Inflation And Higher Interest Rates FTSE Mondo Visione Index Down 4.1% In February

It was a mixed month for global exchanges, with investors positioned for ongoing inflation, higher interest rates and the possibility of an economic recession in 2023.

 

The FTSE Mondo Visione Index fell 4.1% in February, closing the month at 62,315.19 points, down from the January close of 64,966.2.

The top 5 exchanges by market capitalisation at the end of February were:

Hellenic Exchanges was the best performer by capital returns in U.S. dollars, with a 12.5 per cent increase in share price from 1 February 2023 to 28 February 2023. The second-best performer was Nigerian Exchange Group, with a rise of 8.4 per cent, followed by the CME Group, with a 4.9 per cent increase over the same period.

Brazil's B3 was the worst performer by capital returns in U.S. dollars, with an 20.6 per cent decrease in share price from 1 February 2023 to 28 February 2023. Tel Aviv Stock Exchange was the second-worst performer with a 18.8 per cent decline, followed by India's BSE with a 14.9 per cent decrease over the same period.
