Xetra Trading Continues After Interruption - Error In Operating System Software Likely Cause For Interruption

Trading in the electronic trading system Xetra was interrupted on Tuesday from 03.10 p.m. (CEST) for a good two hours. Trading restarted at 5.15 p.m. (CEST) with the so called pre-trading allowing orders to be entered into the system. The first trades occurred in a following auction at 6.30 p.m. (CEST). After that the system was switched to continuous trading.

According to Deutsche Börse a first analysis calls for an error in the underlying operating system software. Restarting the whole system resulted in the interruption of trading. Deutsche Börse said a detailed analysis would be done overnight.
