Introduction of the new index is a consequence of rising number of new listings in 2004 and notified demand on indicators supporting market participants’ analyzes.
The WIG-media sub-index will complete the family of sector sub-indices, which comprises of following trades: banking, construction, IT, food and telecommunication.
Following the methodology of sector sub-indices, a portfolio of sub-index constitute companies representing in the WIG index given sector. The size of the packet of each participant is equal the size of the packet in the WIG index. The base date of previous sub-indices publish by the Warsaw Stock Exchange is December, 31, 1998. The base date of the WIG-media sub-index will be December, 31, 2004.
All sector sub-indices are published three times a day.
The WIG-media sub-index will consist of: AGORA, TVN, WSIP, GRUPAONET, RMFFM and ATMGRUPA.
Detailed information about individual participants’ share in the WIG-media sub-index will be announced after close of business on December, 31, 2004.
The Warsaw Stock Exchange computes 12 different indices, including WIG20 (blue-chip companies), MIDWIG (mid-cap companies) and TechWIG (innovative technologies companies), which are underlying instruments for futures contracts. Other indices: WIG (main market companies), WIRR (small companies) and WIG-PL (main market domestic companies) are all-share benchmark indices. All the WSE index selection criteria are based on free float, liquidity and observance of corporate governance.
