Written Statement By The Republic Of Cyprus Government Spokesman, Mr Christos Stylianides

The marathon meeting of the Council of political party leaders, which the President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, convened to discuss the latest developments with regard to the conclusion of the loan agreement of Cyprus with its creditors, was concluded at 1 a.m. today.

During the meeting the political leaders were also briefed by the delegation of the Troika that is in Cyprus. 

The President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, departed at 7.15 a.m. on Sunday, with a special flight for Brussels, where he will continue the consultations for the conclusion of the loan agreement for the rescue of the Cyprus economy. 

The negotiations are at a very delicate stage. The situation is very difficult and the time limits are very tight. 

President Anastasiades will be accompanied by the Deputy President of DISY party, Mr Averof Neophytou, the Minister of Finance, Mr Michalis Sarris, and the Government Spokesman, Mr Christos Stylianides. President Anastasiades will also be joined by high level officials of the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance: George Syrichas, Andreas Trokkos and George Panteli. The President has scheduled meetings with European officials, as well as with the Director of the IMF Mrs Christine Lagarde. At 7p.m. today there is a scheduled meeting of the Eurogroup with the loan agreement with Cyprus being the only item on the agenda. 

During the course of the negotiations in Brussels the leaders of the political parties will be holding a continuous meeting at the Presidential Palace and will be consulting with the President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades.
