Tehran Stock Exchange's CEO Deputy, Mr. AliAbbas Karimi, provided a speech during an event held on Saturday 8 October 2022 during World Investor Week.
Each year in the first week of October, the event is held by capital market entities and securities exchanges in order to raise public awareness to financial literacy.
I am honored to represent Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) to send our market's message on the event globally.
As a major objective of WIW, we try to absorb more attention from market participants and retailers towards the significance of training and investors protection. Moreover, the international innovations regarding the above subjects are considered and shared among our market players.
IOSCO considers investor resilience and sustainable financing as the main themes of the event in 2022, and in Iran we are promoting the idea that an informed investor should know that any investment carries some risks. Therefore, the investment decisions will be wisely made and less market manipulation and frauds will occur on any asset classes. Such investment will definitely help enterprises for more sustainable financing in the benefit of national and global development.
Retail investors have outnumbered in capital markets of many parts of the world recently, and this brings more obligations to the related entities for financial training and investment knowledge of the public regarding benefits and risks of exposure to the securities markets.
During the current year, we have held several training courses at TSE in order to acquaint new investors with the fundamentals of the capital markets, either in virtual or physical events. Some of the subjects were also covered by media products and video clips, motiongraphy, seminars and other training programs.
