Gender equality is now one of the tenets of sustainable development acting as a driver of economic growth. This is such a big step forward, compared to when women were once not even considered to be competent (under UK common law prior to 1853) to give evidence in a court of law (for or against her spouse).
International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This year’s IWD theme is #EmbraceEquity: equality means each individual or group of people is given the same resources or opportunities. Equity recognises that each person has different circumstances, and allocates the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome.
At Reglex, we believe everyone deserves to have an equal chance to pursue their goals regardless of background. We sat down with one of our founders, Kate Wombell, who shared her insight as a female leader in compliance. As a woman of Asian descent working in London’s then highly male dominated financial market, she broke through many barriers as she progressed her career.
