Winnipeg Commodity Exchange (WCE) - Five New Open Interest Records

Five more new records were set in open interest this week for futures and options contracts traded on Winnipeg Commodity Exchange (WCE). Total open interest in canola futures climbed to 75,116 contracts on October 14, 1999, up from the record 73,755 set on October 6, 1999. Dynamic trade in canola options continued, contributing to a new record open interest of 23,605 contracts on October 13, 1999 (compared to the previous historical high of 23,532 contracts on September 29, 1999). The new record for total futures contracts open occurred on October 14, 1999, at 102,710. The previous high of 102,028 contracts was reached on October 6, 1999. And there were 24,419 total options contracts open on October 13, 1999, with the former record set on September 29, 1999 at 24,311 contracts. Total futures and options open interest stood at 126,711 contracts on October 14, 1999, an increase of 551 contracts over the historical high set on October 6, 1999. WCE is a not-for-profit organization and Canada's only agricultural futures and options exchange. WCE offers futures contracts on canola, flaxseed, domestic feed wheat, western barley, oats, and field peas. Options contracts are available on canola, flaxseed, feed wheat, and western barley.
