Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Sets New Single-Day Volume Level In May Canola Futures Contract

Winnipeg Commodity Exchange (WCE) continues to witness record volume levels into the month of March.

WCE attained a new single-day volume record for May canola futures at 11,662 contracts on Monday March 5, 2001. This exceeds the previous record of 11,379 contracts established on February 21, 2001.

This follows a month of record setting levels at WCE in canola volume, total futures volume, as well as in total futures and options volume levels combined.

WCE provides the world's premier price discovery and risk management tool for canola. Canola is the most actively traded commodity on WCE and has been trading since 1963; options on canola futures have been available since 1991.

WCE trades futures contracts in: canola, western barley, flaxseed, oats, feed wheat and field peas; and options contracts in: canola, flaxseed, feed wheat and western barley.
