Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Open Interest Continues To Build

New open interest records were established at Winnipeg Commodity Exchange (WCE) on March 16, 2001 in the following:
  • May 01 canola open interest: 40,122; previous record of 38,896 on March 14, 2001
  • Total canola futures open interest: 89,614; previous record of 87,900 on March 13, 2001
  • Total futures open interest: 124,721; previous record of 122,768 on March 13, 2001
  • Total futures and options open interest: 141,648; previous record of 138,766 on March 15, 2001
"We are very pleased to see the continuous growth of open interest levels into 2001 at WCE,” said Bruce Love, Director of Marketing for WCE. “These record open interest levels reflect the increasing market participation and liquidity in our products."

WCE trades futures contracts in: canola, western barley, flaxseed, oats, feed wheat and field peas; and options contracts in: canola, flaxseed, feed wheat and western barley.
