Winnipeg Commodity Exchange: March Canola Sets Open Interest Record

The March 2005 canola futures contract set an open interest record for any March contract on January 4, 2005 when its open interest reached 44,468 contracts.

The previous open interest record for a March contract was set on December 30, 2004 when March canola futures open interest stood at 42,835 contracts. Prior to that, the previous record for a March contract was 42,379 contracts. This was reached on December 28, 2000 in the March 2001 canola futures contract.

“High levels of open interest reflect the marketplace’s continued growth and confidence in WCE products”, said Will Hill, WCE Senior Vice-President.
