Total open interest in the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Inc. (WCE) November 2007 canola futures contract reached 100,617 contracts as at the close of business on July 13, 2007.
This level of open interest surpasses the previous November 2007 canola futures open interest record of 99,955 contracts which was recorded on June 29, 2007.
This marks the first time in WCE's history that open interest in a single futures contract month has exceeded 100,000 contracts.
Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Inc., established in 1887, has been facilitating futures contract trading since 1904. WCE is Canada's only agricultural futures and options exchange and North America's first fully electronic commodity exchange. WCE offers futures and options contracts on canola, domestic feed wheat, and western barley.
