Warsaw Stock Exchange: Shorter Trading Session Until 31 December 2014

• The Exchange Supervisory Board has approved modifications to the Exchange Rules which extend the applicability of the temporarily shorter hours of the trading session until the end of 2014. 
• According to the current arrangements, the trading session starts at 08:45 for derivative instruments and 09:00 for cash market instruments, and ends at 17:05 on both markets.

The currently applicable hours of the trading session will remain in force until 31 December 2014, as proposed by the Exchange Management Board and decided by the Exchange Supervisory Board at its meeting yesterday. The modifications to the Exchange Rules will take effect subject to their approval by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. 

“In our opinion, the trading session in Warsaw should eventually have the same timeframe as that applicable on Europe’s leading trading floors. However, following broad consultations, at the request of local brokerage houses, we have decided to extend the period of applicability of the modified trading schedule. A decision to revert to the standard schedule should also derive from the intentions of brokerage houses which maintain direct relations with investors,” said Adam Maciejewski, President of the Management Board of WSE.

In March 2013, WSE and Exchange Members agreed on modifications to the trading schedule whereby the trading session starts at 08:45 for derivative instruments and 09:00 for cash market instruments. Trading ends at 17:05 on both markets. The new trading schedule of Warsaw Stock Exchange has been in effect since the first day of operation of UTP on 15 April 2013.
