On 28 September 2009, the second foreign company will debut on NewConnect, WSE’s secondary trading and financing venue for innovative, high-growth companies.
BGS Energy Plus, a Czech company operating in the renewable energy sector, will join on 28 September a group of 98 companies already listed on NewConnect. The WSE alternative trading system is an exceptional platform in Central and Eastern Europe. Despite the financial crisis that ravaged the markets in late 2007 and in 2008, NewConnect witnessed a constant inflow of new listings. In this regard, NewConnect is among European leaders.

The debut of BGS Energy Plus strengthens the international profile of NewConnect. The company has carried out a private placement that raised PLN 40.50 million Czech crowns (ca. EUR1.6m). Shares were subscribed by a specialist investment fund from Sweden as well as individual investors from the Czech Republic, Poland and Switzerland. Individual investors’ tranche was subject to a 10 percent reduction, due to high demand for Company’s shares.
“Interest of another international company in the NewConnect market, which is highly innovative in nature, confirms that the WSE policy pursued towards small enterprises is right. Their presence on the Polish market draws attention of observers as well as capital market players and is evidence of constantly increasing attractiveness of the Warsaw alternative market in Poland and in other countries of the region.” - Ludwik Sobolewski, CEO of the Warsaw Stock Exchange, said.
In order to meet the growing interest of foreign companies, the Warsaw bourse is actively communicating with business communities and individuals in several European countries. On 3-5 November ’09, representatives of the Warsaw bourse as well as brokerages and legal advisors will visit major Czech business centers – Prague, Brno and Ostrava – to talk to potential issuers and investors
