Warsaw Stock Exchange Investors’ Structure – H1 2007

On 9 August 2007, the WSE published the results of its semi-annual research on the Structure of Investors and the activity of Poles on the capital market. The research was conducted in July and spans the first six months of this year. The research is based on a survey of 21 WSE Members.

A selection of findings:
  • Compared to H2 2006, the structure of investors in the spot market remained almost unchanged (35% - institutional investors, 34% - individual investors and 31% - foreign investors). In parallel, the share in turnover value of institutional and foreign investors increased in the futures and options markets.
  • Regardless of the stable investor structure, the turnover value in the spot market increased by 50% (compared to H2 2006).
  • In the spot market, the most active foreign investors were located in the UK . Austria and the USA are on the second and third place.
  • The share of foreign investors in the futures market remained unchanged. The value of trade increased, however, by 40%. In the options market the turnover volume increased 7-fold.
