Warsaw Stock Exchange and Paris Bourse SBF SA sign a Memorandum of Co-operation
Date 16/07/1999
The Warsaw Stock Exchange and Paris Bourse SBF SA have signed today in Warsaw a Memorandum of Co-operation (MOC)
This MOC enlarges the scope of co-operation between the two Exchanges. The co-operation will remain global, covering not only sharing of technologies but also sharing of information and experience on the functioning and promotion of the two markets.
The MOC envisions five primary areas of co-operation: formal sharing of information concerning companies listed on the two markets, harmonization of regulations of the two markets, market organization and surveillance, joint studies regarding interconnection of the two trading networks, mutual promotion of both markets in their respective communities.
The signatories to the Memorandum were: Jean-François Théodore, President and Chief Executive Officer of Paris Bourse, and Wieslaw Rozlucki, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
The MOC is a new and important milestone in the long relationship between these two Exchanges, which began in 1990 when they signed their first co-operation agreement to re-open the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Throughout the decade the two Exchanges have kept in close contact with each other.
In 1998, Paris Bourse SBF SA was contracted to install in the Warsaw Stock Exchange NSC, its new trading system capable of trading equities and derivatives according to the same standards as those used by other European Union exchanges. NSC should be launched in Warsaw by mid-year 2000. NSC is a state-of-the-art system used by a dozen stock exchanges worldwide.
