Warsaw Exchange Announces Revision In WIG And WIRR Indices

The Warsaw Stock Exchange announces the following quarterly changes to the WIG and WIRR SmallCap Indices (revision):
  • STALEXPORT and POLIGRAFIA will be added to the WIG index;
  • INSTAL KRAKOW, VISTULA, SUWARY, WAFAPOMP, GANT, BUDOPOL and POLNA will be added to the WIRR Index.
  • GETIN, TRASTYCHY, PAGED, RELPOL, INTERIA.PL, KABLE and HUTMEN will be moved from the WIRR Index to the WIG Index.
  • ENERGOMONTAZ POLNOC will be removed from the WIG Index; MOSTOSTAL ZABRZE, ALPRAS and PEKPOL will be removed from the WIRR Index as they no longer meet the index participation criteria.
Following the revision, the WIG Index will consist of 88 companies (currently 80), and the WIRR Index will consist of 67 companies (currently 70).

These changes will be effective after close of business on Friday, September 19, 2003.

The WIG Index is one of the main Warsaw Exchange's indices, apart from the WIG20 and MIDWIG indices. It consists of the biggest companies listed on the WSE and covers 99% of the market capitalization.

The WIRR Index is dedicated to small companies and covers 1% of the market capitalization. Additional information on the methodology of the WSE indices, their selection criteria and portfolios is available from www.wse.com.pl.
