Following the ranking, drawn up as of 10 June 2005, the composition of the above mentioned indices will be changed:
- AMREST will join WIG index, IRENA and OBORNIKI will enter WIRR index,
- GRAAL will be moved from WIRR index to WIG index and BEDZIN, MNI, MCI, PROSPER will be moved from WIG index to WIRR index,
- POLNA will be removed from WIRR index,
- DGA and IRENA will enter and CSS and DROZAPOL will be removed from WIG-PL index.
As a result, WIG index will consist of 120 companies (currently 122), WIG-PL index will consist still of 127 companies and WIRR index - 76 companies (currently 72).
The participation of individual companies’ share in the WIG and WIG-PL portfolios: TPSA and PKN ORLEN will be limited to 10% and the banking sector to 30 %. The numbers of shares each company in index will be determined by the number of free float shares.
Quarterly revision of WIG index will be accompanied by quarterly revision of sector sub-indices.
The Warsaw Stock Exchange computes 13 different indices, including WIG20 (blue-chip companies), MIDWIG (mid-cap companies) and TechWIG (innovative technologies companies), which are underlying instruments for futures contracts. Other indices: WIG (main market companies), WIRR (small companies) and WIG-PL (main market domestic companies) are all-share benchmark indices.
All the WSE index selection criteria are based on free float, liquidity and observance of corporate governance.
