Volta Data Centres, the specialist provider of data centres to the financial, media and content industries, has selected Optimum Group Services (OGS) to provide facilities and engineering maintenance services to Volta’s Great Sutton Street Data Centre.
In less than a year, over 270,000 man hours have completely stripped and refurbished the former Reuters Data Centre in Great Sutton Street, and in March Volta energised the new 9.6 MW, 33 kV power supply at this 91,000 square feet facility before opening its doors in June of this year.
Volta has appointed OGS for the day to day management of the facility providing specialist critical engineering services, management of refrigeration, air conditioning and combustion services. OGS will also be undertaking routine energy reports, life cycle analysis and condition surveys for the duration of their ten year appointment.
Commercial Director at Volta Data Centres, Julian King, said, “We are delighted to be working with OGS as our new facilities manager for Great Sutton Street, which is Central London's first new data centre for a decade. We believe we have selected the right team to support our growth ambitions into the financial and media sectors amongst others, for the coming years.”
Tod Harrison, Managing Director at OGS, said: “Volta Great Sutton Street is such an important new facility for a wide variety of firms across a broad spectrum of industries. Whether located in Central London or an international firm seeking to do business in London, the Great Sutton Street data centre offers resilience, scalability and connectivity. We are delighted to have been selected to maintain the facility and work with Volta to attract and service the centre’s new customers.”
Volta’s Great Sutton Street Data Centre has been designed to be highly flexible and offers a variety of options, ranging from half, single to multiple racks of 2KW upwards, to private caged areas providing 50KW upwards. The building has also been fitted with a new, state of the art in-rack cooling system, which is currently the only Carbon Trust approved cooling system available.
