Visual Trader Upgrades Its Electronic Platform - BME Company, Visual Trader, Which Provides Access To International Markets, Chooses IBM To Carry Out Technical Innovations

Date 08/03/2006

Visual Trader, a BME company and a leading provider of services and access to international markets, has chosen IBM to upgrade its electronic platform. The improvements will bring about greater speed of price reception and key trading advantages for major banks and national and international brokers, all of them clients of Visual Trader.

The purpose of the upgrade is to ensure greater performance of IT applications and meet the demand for speed and order processing capacity of financial markets in the coming years. The new system, flexible and open, will also contribute to a considerable reduction of maintenance costs.

The new platform, based on IBM Blade servers which use Linux operating system, enables outstanding performance in speed, efficiency and security.

During the first stage of the project, a system was implemented for the reception, in real time, of stock prices in 12 major financial markets worldwide.

The second stage concluded with the start of the Visual Trader’s fully developed FIX engine on IBM-Linux. During the third and last stage, which is to be carried out in the coming months, the order routing systems for all national and international equities will be incorporated into the new platform.

Visual Trader has opted for IBM’s “on demand” solution, which allows the expansion of the system’s capacity according to the demand of performance at a low cost while at the same time facilitating the incorporation of new technology into future business projects.

Visual Trader relies on the IBM-Linux solution for its central systems, where IBM’s support as well as that of Morse, IBM’s Business Partner has been of great value.
