Virt-x: SMI Market Segment Change

From 1 July 2005, market segments on virt-x for Swiss Market Index (“SMI”) securities were established as follows:

• an EU Regulated Market segment which is in compliance with the relevant EU provisions, and
• a UK Exchange Regulated Market segment which generally preserves the pre-existing regulatory requirements for Swiss issuers.

As of 22 January 2007 the shares of Synthes Inc. will be reallocated from the EU Regulated Market segment on virt-x to the UK Exchange Regulated Market segment for SMI securities; security details will be set out in a Stock Notice
