20 years of sustainability benchmarking in Austria: The VÖNIX (VBV Österreichischer Nachhaltigkeitsindex) is one of the first national sustainability indices worldwide and celebrating a milestone anniversary. The index tracks Austrian listed companies that stand out for their activities in corporate sustainability. At the start of its 21st year, Burgenland Holding AG and Raiffeisen Bank International AG are once again included in the index. None of the existing index members have been removed. This is the result of the annual review of the index composition based on the sustainability analysis conducted by rfu in accordance with the rules and regulations. The changes take effect today.

"Twenty years ago, sustainability was still a niche topic on the capital markets; today, it is an indispensable part of modern investment strategies. The VÖNIX index has reflected this development from the very beginning and proves that responsible investing is here to stay. The 20th anniversary is a strong sign of the Austrian companies' sustainability and the foresight of the local economy," explains Andreas Zakostelsky, Chairman of the VÖNIX Advisory Board and CEO of VBV.
"With the inclusion of Burgenland Holding AG, Austria's leading wind power producer is now represented in the VÖNIX. Raiffeisen Bank International demonstrates its commitment to sustainability throughout its stakeholder and product policies. In addition, the company-related geopolitical risks have decreased," says Reinhard Friesenbichler, Managing Director at rfu research, explaining the updated sustainability rating.

The VBV Austrian Sustainability Index (VÖNIX) was launched in 2005 as a price index weighted by free float capitalisation. The selection universe comprises all companies listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange in the prime or standard market with sufficient free float and trading liquidity.
