Vienna Stock Exchange: AT&S To Be Added To Austrian Leading Index ATX

Date 02/03/2016

The following adjustments will made to the composition of the ATX index after today’s half-yearly review: the Styrian semi-conductor manufacturer, AT&S Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik AG, which has been listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange since the spring of 2008, will join the ATX index for the first time and replaces the stocks of Flughafen Wien AG.

In the ATX five, the index which contains the five largest ATX stocks, Wienerberger AG will replace Immofinanz AG. The ATX five will then consist of the following companies: Andritz AG, Erste Group Bank AG, OMV AG, voestalpine AG and Wienerberger AG.

The free float factors, which influence the weighting of stocks in the index, were also reviewed. The free float factor of conwert Immobilien Invest SE will be increased from 0.7 to 0.8. The free float factor indicates how many stocks of a company are publicly held.

All changes will take effect on 21 March 2016.

According to “The Rules for the Austrian Indices of the Vienna Stock Exchange”, the inclusion or exclusion of stocks from the Austrian indices is reviewed twice a year (March and September). The decision on new additions to the index is based on the daily average trading volume and the free float capitalisation of companies. The Vienna Stock Exchange quarterly reviews the calculation parameters (number of shares, free float factors, representation factors) in the index. Once a month, the “ATX Watch List” is published. Representatives of institutional investors, financial institutions, that issue financial products on the indices, trading members of the Vienna Stock Exchange, academics advisors and the Vienna Stock Exchange contribute their know-how to the Index Committee, which approves the index rules. A list of the Committee members is available here.
