VeriSign, Inc. To Join The Nasdaq-100 Index Beginning June 9, 2000

VeriSign, Inc. (Nasdaq:VRSN), of Mountain View, California, will become a component of the Nasdaq-100 Index®, effective at the beginning of trading Friday, June 9, 2000. Shares of VeriSign will also be included in the Nasdaq-100 Index Tracking StockSM (Amex:QQQ). VeriSign will replace Network Solutions, Inc., (NSOL) subject to approval of the merger agreement by VeriSign and Network Solutions shareholders. The meeting is scheduled for June 8, 2000.

With a post merger market capitalization of $26.1 billion, VeriSign is a leading provider of Internet trust services — including authentication, validation and payment — needed by Web sites, enterprises, electronic commerce service providers, and individuals to conduct trusted and secure electronic commerce and communications over IP networks. The proposed acquisition of Network Solutions, Inc. will expand VeriSign’s offering of Internet identity services.

The Nasdaq-100 Index, launched in January 1985, has risen over 63.4 percent in the past year, although past performance is not necessarily indicative of future performance and Index performance does not represent the performance of the Nasdaq-100 Index Tracking Stock. The Nasdaq-100 Index Tracking Stock is securities that represent ownership in the Nasdaq-100 Trust. The Trustee for the Nasdaq-100 Trust is required to adjust the composition of the Trust within 3 business days of the effective date of a change to the composition of the Nasdaq-100 Index.
