Van der Moolen Starts As A Trading Member Of Helsinki Exchanges

Van der Moolen will start as a trading member of Helsinki Exchanges on January 7, 2002. Van der Moolen will trade in the HETI trading system from Amsterdam.

Commenting on the membership at Helsinki Exchanges, F.M.J. (Fred) Böttcher, CEO at Van der Moolen, said: "Van der Moolen is an international trading firm active in the important equity, bonds and derivatives markets in the United States and Europe. On the NYSE, we are the number 5 specialist, responsible for more than 10% of the traded volume on the Big Board. From our European trading centers in Amsterdam, London and Cologne, we are expanding our remote trading activities. A membership of the Helsinki Exchanges fits perfectly in that strategy."

Van der Moolen is a publicly traded company, listed on Euronext Amsterdam since 1986. On October 18, 2001, Van der Moolen ADR's were listed on the NYSE, giving U.S. investors direct access to investment in Van der Moolen's shares.

HEX is a growing, international company that operates the national securities and derivatives exchange and the central securities depository in Finland. Furthermore, HEX offers specialised securities and information services for the markets.

Including Van der Moolen, Helsinki Exchanges now has 41 Cash Market Trading Members. Of them 23 are trading from abroad.
