Tradewinds (M) Bhd did not meet the KLCI’s volume criteria as it fell into the fourth quartile of annual volume from end-June 2004 to end-June 2005.
Although the other 7 component stocks fulfill all the KLCI criteria, the EXCO decided that they be replaced by other better capitalised and more liquid stocks to ensure that the KLCI remain a robust benchmark of the Malaysian capital market. Other factors considered include industry or sector representation.
In place of the component stocks released, the eight companies to be included as component stocks of the KLCI are :
