Bursa Malaysia today announced the changes in the component stocks of the Kuala Lumpur Syariah Index (KLSI) in line with the updated list of approved securities issued by the Shariah Advisory Council of the Securities Commission on 25TH MAY 2007 . The changes are effective on the following dates :-

The KLSI is a weighted-average index with its components made up of Main Board companies designated as Shariah approved securities by the Shariah Advisory Council of the Securities Commission. With the latest update, there are now 518 Main Board approved securities which form the components of the KLSI.
As announced on 22nd Jan 2007 during the launch of FTSE-Bursa Malaysia Emas Shariah Index (FBMSHA), the KLSI will be deactivated on 1st November 2007, making the FBMSHA the singular benchmark index for Malaysian Shariah-compliant investments.
