The KLSE SI is a weighted-average index with its components made up of Main Board companies designated as Syariah approved securities by the Syariah Advisory Council of the Securities Commission. With the latest update, there are now 394 Main Board companies which form the components of the KLSE SI.
The KLSE SI was launched on 17 April 1999 to meet the increasing demand by local and foreign investors seeking to invest in securities and instruments which are in line with Syariah principles.
