Update In Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange Syariah Index Components

The Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) is updating the component stocks of the KLSE Syariah Index (KLSE SI) in line with the revised list of approved securities issued by the Syariah Advisory Council of the Securities Commission on 25 October 2002.

The component stocks update to the KLSE SI will come into effect on Monday, 18 November 2002. The new component stocks to be included in the KLSE SI are:

The KLSE SI is a weighted-average index with its components made up of Main Board companies designated as Syariah approved securities by the Syariah Advisory Council of the Securities Commission. With the latest update, there are now 394 Main Board companies which form the components of the KLSE SI.

The KLSE SI was launched on 17 April 1999 to meet the increasing demand by local and foreign investors seeking to invest in securities and instruments which are in line with Syariah principles.
