Update In KLSE Syariah Index Components

The Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) is updating the component stocks of the KLSE Syariah Index (KLSE SI) in line with the revised list of approved securities issued by the Syariah Advisory Council of the Securities Commission on Friday, 26 October 2001.

The component stocks update to the KLSE SI will come into effect on Monday, 12 November 2001.

The new component stocks to be included in the KLSE SI are:

Consumer Products Sector

  • CSM Corporation Bhd
  • Matrix International Bhd
Industrial Products Sector
  • Wijaya Baru Global Bhd
Trading/Services Sector
  • Edaran Digital Systems Bhd
  • Kamunting Corporation Bhd
  • Knusford Bhd
  • MBM Resources Bhd
  • Mulpha International Bhd
  • Sarawak Enterprise Corporation Bhd
Properties Sector
  • Avenue Assets Bhd
  • Merge Housing Bhd
  • South Malaysia Industries Bhd
  • Worldwide Holdings Bhd
The component stocks to be removed from the KLSE SI are:

  • Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd
Properties Sector
  • Brisdale Holdings Bhd
  • Dijaya Corporation Bhd
  • Lien Hoe Corporation Bhd
  • PK Resources Bhd
Mining Sector
  • Malaysia Mining Corporation Bhd
The KLSE SI is a weighted-average index with its components made up of Main Board companies designated as Syariah approved securities by the Syariah Advisory Council of the Securities Commission. With the latest update, there are now 357 Main Board companies which form the components of the KLSE SI.

The KLSE SI was launched on 17 April 1999 to meet the increasing demand by local and foreign investors seeking to invest in securities and instruments which are in line with Syariah principles.
