Based on opening prices, the two represented an additional EUR 5.2 billion in market capitalisation (EUR 3.7 billion for Sanef and EUR 1.5 billion for RHJ International).
Sanef, which opened at EUR 41.20 at 12 noon CET, placed 20.72 million shares for a total of EUR 837 million. The underwritten global placement for institutional investors was oversubscribed more than 14 times, while individual investors placed nearly 1.7 million orders — the highest figure since November 2001.
RHJ International opened at EUR 20.65 at 9:05 am CET. This direct listing was preceded by a private placement including a capital increase totalling EUR 657 million.
Sanef holds a concession from the French government to operate and maintain motorways on major European routes. From core competencies in concession management and motorway operation, the company has developed expertise in three additional areas: telematics, telecommunications and promotion and management of service areas.
RHJ International is a Belgian holding company created by Ripplewood, a private investment fund that acquires majority or controlling interests in various industrial companies. Assets currently include seven investments: six in Japan (of which four are listed in Japan) and one in Germany.
