Turnover At Boerse Stuttgart Tops EUR 100 Billion - Significant Year-On-Year Increase In Total Turnover At Boerse Stuttgart For The First Eleven Months Of The Year - Turnover Of More Than EUR 7.6 Billion In November - Increases In Trading In Investment Fund Units And Securitised Derivatives

According to order book statistics, turnover at Boerse Stuttgart in November 2011 was more than EUR 7.6 billion, bringing the turnover for the year 2011 above the EUR 100 billion mark within the first eleven months of the year. The total turnover between January and November was around EUR 102.2 billion, representing an increase of more than18 percent on the same period of 2010.

Securitised derivatives accounted for the largest part of November’s turnover. In this asset class, turnover was more than EUR 4 billion, representing growth of almost 4 percent in comparison with October. At EUR 2.3 billion, turnover in leverage products was significantly higher than that in investment products, which accounted for EUR 1.6 billion of the trading volume.

Turnover in debt instruments was almost EUR 2 billion in November. In emerging market bonds and convertible bonds, turnover grew by around 43 percent compared with October. Demand for euro government bonds was also higher than in October, with growth of almost 6 percent recorded.

Turnover in equities trading was slightly below that of the previous month, at just under EUR 866 million. However, trading in international equities was up 5 percent compared with October. Altogether, the volume of equities trading for the first eleven months of 2011 was over EUR 12 billion, almost a third higher than in 2010.

Trading in investment fund units and exchange-traded products (ETPs) at Boerse Stuttgart was up 20 percent in November compared with the previous month. The trading volume in this asset class was around EUR 764 million. ETPs accounted for more than EUR 700 million of the turnover, representing an increase of more than 24 percent compared with the previous month and around 40 percent compared with November 2010.
