Year-To-Date Financing
- As of the end of November, there were 1,937 financing deals on TSX Venture, raising a total of $3,725.0 million, an increase of 97.7% from last year’s $1,884.5 million through 1,939 financing deals for the comparable period to the end of November 2003.
- Year-over-year, the average size of the financings has increased from $0.98 million to $1.91 million, an increase of 94.9%.
- As of the end of November, the Mining sector is leading the way in financing, raising a total of $2,158.4 million (representing 57.9% of the total). The Oil & Gas sector is second with $858.8 million (representing 23.1% of the total). The Technology sector has captured 6.4% of the financing with $237.3 million raised.
- South Atlantic Ventures Ltd., a mining company, completed the largest single financing year-to-date, raising $160.0 million through a public offering deal in June. European Goldfields Limited, another mining company, completed the next largest single financing year-to-date, raising $91.0 million through a private placement deal in November.
Year-To-Date Going Public Activity
- There were 15 new listings in the month of November. Year-to-date new listings have increased 93.9% compared to the same period in 2003.
- The Capital Pool Company (CPC) program has generated 61.7% of the new listings, 18.0% from the Mining sector and 9.4% from the Oil & Gas sector.
- The regional breakdown of new listings is as follows: Alberta (25.8%), British Columbia (21.1%), Ontario (21.9%), Quebec (20.3%), Manitoba and Saskatchewan (4.7%), Atlantic Canada (0.8%) and Foreign (5.5%).
- As of November 2004, there were 26 Reverse Take Over transactions, 59 Qualifying Transactions and 106 Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), including CPCs.

- The S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index closed on November 30, 2004 at 1,754.4, an increase of 0.2% from the beginning of 2004. The S&P/TSX Composite Index was up 9.8%, the NASDAQ Composite increased 4.7% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased 0.2% over the same period.
