Ms. Hohol leads TSX Venture Exchange, Canada’s public venture capital marketplace – a marketplace that provides emerging companies with access to capital while offering investors a quality market in which to make venture investments. In her role as the head of TSX Venture, Ms. Hohol has overseen the development of the venture market outside Western Canada to become a truly national marketplace. Today there is strong growth in TSX Venture listings in the core markets in Alberta and B.C. as well as growing acceptance in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
“Forty-three per cent of TSX Venture’s new listings this year have been based in Ontario and Quebec, while Alberta and B.C. were home to 53 per cent,” added Ms. Hohol. “That’s a significant change. For many years we saw very few listings from Ontario and Quebec.”
In all there are nearly 2,000 issues on TSX Venture Exchange with market capitalization topping $26 billion.
Ms. Hohol’s remarks today come three years after her first presentation to the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. Today’s luncheon celebrates her award as 2005 Distinguished Business Leader Award winner by the University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business and the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. Copies of her remarks are available at tsx.com.
