TSX Group Provides Background Information On Income Trusts - Information Seen Supporting Government’s Consultative Process On Trusts

– In order to accommodate a request from the Department of Finance of the Government of Quebec and support the consultation process initiated by the Department of Finance of the Government of Canada, TSX Group has assembled certain basic information related to income trusts listed on Toronto Stock Exchange.

TSX Group is providing this material to all provincial and territorial governments and regulators, as well as relevant parliamentary committees, the Bank of Canada and the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions in the hope that it will serve as an easily accessible source of basic information for the consultation and contribute to a better understanding of the income trust market and this growing asset class.

Using this information, TSX Group is also preparing its position that will be advanced later in the process.
