TSE Daily Trading Tops $15 Billion

The value of trading at the TSE today topped $15 billion for the first time ever-more than doubling the previous record of $6.6 billion, set on April 4, 2000.

Today's trading was led by BCE Inc-more than 37 million "when issued" shares have traded as have 31 million of the regular BCE Inc. shares.

In just a little over the first 4 months of 2000, trading has topped $365 billion. In 1999, the year's value was $529 billion.

The Toronto Stock Exchange consistently ranks among the world's top exchanges by market capitalization and trading volume. In 2000, the average daily value of TSE trading has exceeded $4 billion. The TSE provides investors with a well-regulated, fair and accessible marketplace.
