Equities
In February equity turnover on the Spanish market through SIBE amounted to € 118.96 bn, which represents a year on year increase of 42.7%. During this month the number of transactions came in at 2.86 million, up 41.5% on last year.
The accumulated trading volume so far this year was € 256.32 bn, 41% up on 2006; the number of trades posted a year on year increase of 45.6%.
Trading on the Latibex market, the market in euros for Latin American companies, was € 69 million, 8.5% up on the previous month. The number of trades increased by 9.2% on the year. Latibex trading volume to February came in at €133 million.
The value of trading on the ETF segment in January was € 185 million and the number of trades increased by 3.2% on the previous month.
The IBEX 35 index in February came down 2.09 %, posting an accumulated return of 0.72% up to the end of February. The return on the IBEX 35 with dividends for the same period was 1.38%. The annual return on the IBEX MEDIUM CAP and IBEX SMALL CAP was 8.94% and 8.99% respectively. The FTSE Latibex TOP index in came down 0.04% to February
Warrants and Certificates
Trading volumes in February 2007 on the warrants and certificates market came in at € 375 million, which represents a 43.6% increase over the same month in 2006. The number of trades reached 62.121, 36.2% up on the same month last year. Both figures represent monthly record highs for this market.
The accumulated trading volume were 727 million euros, 46% up on 2006, and the number of trades increased by 41.4%.
Futures and Options
Futures and Options trading through MEFF in February 2007 came in at 2.40 million contracts. It is worth mentioning the heavy trading volume in IBEX 35 Futures, MEFF’s flagship product, at 622.927 contracts, 37% up on last year and Mini IBEX Futures, at 164.278 contracts, 55% up on the year.
The accumulated number of contracts traded in MEFF was 4.8 million. Highlights include IBEX 35 Futures, with 1.3 million contracts traded and a 36% year on year increase and Mini IBEX Futures, at 350,000 contracts and a 69% increase on the previous year.
Corporate Debt
Corporate Debt trading on AIAF in February reached € 84.27 bn, which represents a 32.8% rise compared to the same period last year. The accumulated trading volume during the first two months of 2007 was € 186.82 bn, 32.5% up on 2005.
New issues in February came in at € 53.16 bn, 15.1% up on the same month in 2006. The accumulated trading volume so far this year reached € 106.43 bn, 34.5% up on the same period 2006.
The outstanding balance at the end of February was € 26.42 bn, recording an increase of 20.2% on the same period in 2006.
SENAF
Trading volume on the public debt platform SENAF, in February was € 7.15 bn, which represents a 62.3% share of the volume traded on all Spanish electronic platforms.
