Equities
In January trading in equities on the Spanish market through SIBE amounted to € 98.40 which represents a year on year increase of 30% and the highest monthly figure in the history of the stock exchange.
Average daily trading volume in January exceeded € 4.6 bn. During this month the number of transactions exceeded 1.78 million, up 35% on last year. Trading on the Latibex market, the market in euros for Latin American companies, exceeded € 64 million, which represents a 74% increase from the same month in 2005 and a new record high on this market. The number of trades increased 48%, hitting a monthly record high.
The return on the IBEX 35 index in January was 3.45 % and that on the IBEX 35 with dividends was 3.97%. The monthly return on the IBEX MEDIUM CAP and IBEX SMALL CAP was 6.08% and 9.05% respectively. The return on the FTSE Latibex TOP index in January was 10.60%.
Warrants and Certificates
Trading volumes in January 2006 on the warrants and certificates market came in at € 236 million, which represents a 41% increase over the same month in 2005. The number of trades reached 41,328, 66% up on the same month last year.
Futures and Options
Futures and Options trading through MEFF in January 2006 came in at 2.83 million contracts, 70% up on January 2005. It is worth mentioning the heavy trading volume in Stock Futures, at 708,722 contracts, 330% up on last year. Also worth noting is the growth of Stock Options, which hit 1.18 million contracts, 65% up on last year and Ibex Options, at 380,516 contracts, 25% up on last year. Ibex 35 Futures reached 464,508 contracts, 16% up on last year.
Corporate Debt
Corporate Debt trading on AIAF in January reached € 79.62 bn, a 9.8 % increase compared to the same month last year.
New issues in January came in at € 35.87 bn, 11.9% up on the same month in 2005.
The outstanding balance at the end of January was € 446.94 bn, recording an increase of 41.6% on the same period in 2005.

Trading volume on SENAF in January was € 15.72 bn, a 9.5 % increase on the previous month.
