Equities
In June trading in Equities on the Spanish Stock Exchange amounted to €73.33 bn, down 8.9% compared to the same period in 2010. The trading volume to the end of June totalled €484.87 bn, down 8% from the same period a year earlier.
The number of trades in the first six months of the year totalled 23.36 million, up 12% year-on-year. In June, the number of trades came in at 3.5 million, down 6% on June 2010.
The trading volume posted by the ETF segment to the end of June totalled €1.65 bn, down 62 % down year on year. The trading volume in June in this segment was €180 million. In the first six months of the year the number of ETF trades totalled 22,091, down 45% year on year. The number of trades on the ETF segment in June came in at 2,853.
Futures and Options
In June trading on BME’s Derivatives Market, MEFF, came in at 8.71 million contracts, up 15% from a year earlier. The trading volume in the first six months totalled 36 million contracts, up 5.1% year on year.
Highlights include the trading in Futures on Stocks, which in June increased 118% to 5.31 million contracts. To the end of June, trading in Futures on Stocks grew 99.7% year on year to 16.1 million contracts.
Warrants and Certificates
The volume of warrants admitted to trading between January and June totalled 3,724.
Trading volume to the end of June on the warrants and certificates market totalled €766 million, down 9.8% from the same period last year. In June the trading volume came in at €96.1 million, down 38% year on year.
The number of trades to the end of June reached 146,666, down 26% from the same period in 2010. In June 21,223 trades were executed, down 39% compared to June of 2010.
Corporate Debt
Corporate Debt trading in June reached €452.56 bn, up 79% year on year. The trading volume for the first six months exceeded the €3 trillion mark (3.02), up 135% on the same period last year.
New issues in June totalled €11.50 bn, down 34% from the same month last year, although in the first six months of the year they totalled €139.08 bn, up 27% from the same period in 2010. The outstanding balance of Corporate Debt at the end of June was up 1.1% from the same period a year earlier, at €848.29 bn.
The trading volume on BME’s Public Debt market in June came in at €10.43 bn, down 62.3% from the same period a year earlier. In the first six months of the year the trading volume totalled €54.76, down 54.5% year on year.
