Monthly Trading Statements For BME Markets

Equities
The Equity trading volume on the Spanish stock exchange in the first two months amounted to €165.22 bn, which represents a 1% increase from the same period in 2010. The trading volume in February came in at €66.44 bn, down 13% from the same period a year earlier.
The number of share trades to February totalled 8.4 million, up 32.5% from the same month in 2010. The number of trades in February reached 3.8 million, up 14.2% from the same period in 2009.
The trading volume in the ETF segment in the first two months totalled €716 million, down 44% year on year. In February, the trading volume in the ETF segment came in at €349 million, down 62% from the same period in 2010.
The number of trades on the ETF segment to February totalled 9,455, down 26% from the same month in 2010. In February the number of trades came in at 4,194, down 40% year on year.
Futures and Options
In February trading on BME’s Derivatives Market came in at 4.3 million contracts, down 12.6% from the same period a year earlier. The trading volume in the first two months totalled 10.5 million contracts, up 2.1% year on year.
Trading in Futures on Stocks in February came in at 1.2 million contracts, up 69% from the same month in 2010.
Warrants and Certificates
The number of warrants issued in the first two months of the year came in at 599 .
The trading volume on the warrants and certificates market to February totalled €302 million, up 35% from 2010. In February the trading volume in this segment came in at €148 million, up 19% from February 2010.
The number of trades in this segment to February was 55,203, down 0.5% from the same month a year earlier. In February the number of trades was 26,322 down 15% from the same period the previous year.
Corporate Debt
Corporate Debt trading in February reached a monthly high, at €649.68 bn, up 436% year on year and the figure for the first two months of the year totalled €1.2 trillion, up 238% from the same period in 2010.
New issues in February came in at €21.27 bn, up 58.2% year on year while in the first two months of the year the number of issues totalled €43.87 bn, up 15.6% from the same period in 2010.
The outstanding balance of Corporate Debt at the end of February was €854.41 bn, down 1.8% from the same period a year earlier.
The trading volume on BME’s Public Debt market in February came in at €10.85 bn, down 46.6 % from the same period a year earlier.
