Equities
In September trading in Equities on the Spanish Stock Exchange amounted to €58.72 billion, down 7.2% compared to the same period in 2010. In the first nine months of the year the trading volume totalled €719.02 billion, down 3.2% year on year.
The number of trades up to the end of September came in at 35.7 million, up 22% year-on-year. In September, the number of trades came in at 3.7 million, up 27.5% year on year.
In September the trading volume in the ETF segment was €207million, up 11.8% year on year, while the trading volume in the first nine months of the year totalled €2.46 billion, down 52% on the year. The number of trades on the ETF segment in September totalled 4,058, up 3.9% from the same period last year. In the first nine months of the year the number of ETF trades totalled 34,202, down 35% year on year.
Futures and Options
Trading on BME’s Derivatives Market in the first nine months of the year totalled 50.5 million contracts, up 1.1% from the previous year. In September the trading volume came in at 8 million contracts, up 5% on the year.
Trading in Stock Futures between January and September totalled 21.7 million contracts, up 66.3% year on year. In September trading in this segment came in at 4.2 million contracts, up 17% from the same period the previous year. In September trading in Index Options was 22.8% up on the previous year, at 218,778 contracts.
Warrants and Certificates
The volume of warrants admitted to trading so far this year was 6,195. The trading volume in this segment in the first nine months of the year came in at €1.27 billion, up 1.5% year on year. In September the trading volume came in at €181.5 million, up 34% from the same period last year.
The number of trades to the end of September reached 230,032, down 15% from the same period in 2010. In September 28,155 trades were executed, up 17% year on year.
Corporate Debt
Corporate Debt trading in the first nine months of the year exceeded €4 trillion (4,218,967 million), up 93.1% year on year. The trading volume in September came in at €323.80 billion, down 5.5% on the same period last year. The number of trades in the first nine months of the year totalled 515,081, up 12.7% on the year.
New issues between January and September totalled €175.57 billion, up 0.2% from the same period last year. In September new issues came in at €10.15 billion, down 25.7% from the same period in 2010. The outstanding balance of Corporate Debt at the end of September was €844.35 billion.
The trading volume on BME’s Public Debt market in the first nine months of the year totalled €71.70 billion, down 63.6% from the same period a year earlier, although the number of trades rose to 10,264 in the same period, up 24% year on year. Trading in this segment in September reached €6.90 billion and the number of trades amounted to 1,146.
