Trading Volume At Kansas City Board Of Trade Eases Post-Harvest

Trading activity at the Kansas City Board of Trade during the month of September eased when compared to previous months, causing year-to-date volume to run behind 2002 record levels.

Total exchange volume was off 8.1 percent, while wheat options volume was down 6.1 percent and wheat futures volume was off by 8 percent.

However, open interest in the KCBT wheat options contract climbed compared to August. Total open interest of 52,109 contracts was an increase of 13.8 percent by comparison.

The Kansas City Board of Trade, chartered in 1876, is the world's largest futures market for hard red winter wheat.
