Trading Steady In May For Euronext Amsterdam, Brussels And Paris

Equity trading through Euronext central orderbooks, including both domestic and foreign companies, averaged EUR 6.93 billion a day in May, a figure close to that for the previous month. The total amount for the first five months of the year came to EUR 755.7 billion, 3.6% more than in the same period of 2000.

On the NextTrack Compartment (dedicated to ETF) launched in January, activity was up with daily trade value of Euros 50.8 million compared to Euros 35.2 million in april. Capitalization of the 1,609 companies listed on Euronext markets came to EUR 2,310 billion. A total of 30.628 million contracts were traded on Euronext derivatives markets in May, 11% more than in the previous month. Equity and index futures and options accounted for 92.2% of the total for May.
