Main Market
The average daily value of session trading was PLN 771.4 million, a decrease of 27.1% compared to PLN 1,058.4 million in June 2011. Market activity as measured by the average number of session transactions in June decreased by 6.8% and reached 45.4 thousand transactions.
Session trading in H1 2012 (PLN 97.1 billion) was down by 24.0% year on year while the number of transactions (PLN 6.2 million) was down by 9.6%.
The WIG index lost 15.7% year on year and gained 8.6% year to date at the end of June 2012.
NewConnect
The value of session trading was PLN 54.4 million in June 2012, as compared to PLN 202.2 million in June 2011. The number of session transactions decreased to 45.9 thousand in June 2012 from 113.1 thousand in June 2011. The total value of trading in H1 2012 was PLN 0.8 billion, as compared to PLN 1.3 billion in H1 2011.
The NCIndex lost 33.1% year on year and 11.8% year to date at the end of June 2012.
Derivative instruments
Futures contracts: The monthly volume of trading in index futures was 1.02 million contracts, a decrease of 5.3% compared to 1.08 million in June 2011. The volume of trading in H1 2012 was more than 5.0 million, a decrease of 19.3% as compared to 6.3 million a year earlier. The monthly volume of trading in single-stock futures (38.9 thousand) was lower than in June 2011 (57.6 thousand). The volume of trading in currency futures was 113.4 thousand in June 2012, as compared to 18.1 thousand in June 2011.1)
In June, the WSE introduced to trading futures on shares of Synthos S.A.. The WSE lists futures contracts on shares of 23 companies.
Options: The volume of trading in index options was 65.3 thousand in June 2012 and 297.7 thousand in H1 2012. The trading volume was 89.7 thousand in June 2011 and 508.1 thousand in H1 2011.
Structured products, investment certificates and ETFs
Structured products and investment certificates: The value of trading in structured products and investment certificates was PLN 21.5 million in June 2012, as compared to PLN 17.6 million in June 2011.
ETFs: The value of trading in ETFs was PLN 30.8 million in June 2012, as compared to PLN 18.8 million in June 2011. The value of trading in ETFs in H1 2012 was PLN 152.6 million, an increase of 10.7% compared to H1 2011.

Catalyst
The monthly value of session trading was PLN 63.4 million, as compared to PLN 126.1 million in June 2011. Session trading in January-June 2012 was PLN 798.5 million, an increase of 37.4% year on year. The value of block trades in June 2012 was more than PLN 1.0 billion, as compared to PLN 9.2 million in June 2011. The significant increase was driven by transactions in instruments of one issuer, Polkomtel Finance AB.
The nominal value of listed instruments (corporate, municipal and mortgage bonds) was PLN 46.0 billion at the end of June 2012, an increase of 55.5% year on year.
Treasury BondSpot Poland
In view of maintained double-digit growth of trading in cash transactions on Treasury BondSpot Poland, the market reported the highest-ever semi-annual value of trading (PLN 221.2 billion). Cash transactions in January – June 2012 equal 72.2% of annual trading in all of 2011. The monthly trading value was PLN 31.0 billion, an increase of 9.2% year on year, while the value of conditional transactions in June 2012 decreased by 29.8% year on year and stood at PLN 43.9 billion.
Electricity and property rights3)
Electricity: Spot transactions on the WSE Group electricity markets reached 1.75 TWh in June 2012, as compared to 1.80 TWh in June 2011. Incremental spot transactions year to date increased by 1.7% year on year and reached 11.08 TWh. Forward transactions (10.07 TWh) decreased compared to June 2011 (11.65 TWh).
Property rights: Trading on the property market increased significantly year on year both in June 2012 and in H1 2012. The monthly volume of trading increased by 58.1% compared to June 2011 and reached 6.07 TWh. The trading volume in H1 2012 increased by 27.7% and reached 34.20 TWh.
The WSE held 20 trading sessions in June 2012, one less than in June 2011.
