Trading On The Copenhagen Stock Exchange Continued In Spite Of Power Failure

Date 23/09/2003

A three-hour power failure hit most of Zealand, including the Copenhagen area, earlier today. During the power failure, the SAXESS trading system was running both as regards the equity and the bond markets.

At least half of the member firms were trading actively during the power failure. Market surveillance and monitoring were maintained from Oslo and Stockholm.

The member firms were informed about the power failure by the Exchange via the trading system. Also the Exchange's website www.cse.dk could quickly announce that equity and bond trading continued.

The derivatives market was closed since too few member firms had access to the system.
