Trading Edges Down In Paris In April 2001

Trading in Paris slipped from a daily average of EUR 5.25 billion in March to EUR 4.98 billion in April. The total for April, which counted only 19 business days, was EUR 94.69 billion.

The busiest day was April 19, with EUR 9.59 billion traded, while the slowest was April 9 with EUR 2.99 billion.

Altogether, 7,100,038 trades were made through Euronext Paris trading systems during the month, compared with 8,267,312 in March. The daily average thus showed a modest 0.56% decline from 375,787 to 373,686. The busiest day was April 18 with 468,458 transactions, while the slowest was April 9 with 295,104.

Over the first four months, trading averaged EUR 5.15 billion, showing a rise of 11.95% from an average of EUR 4.6 billion in the same period of last year, although the number of trades fell 14.78% from daily average of 446,221 to 380,243.

One new company was listed on a Euronext Paris regulated market in April: Foncia Groupe, which joined the Second Marché.

At April 30, 2001, market capitalisation of French companies listed on the Premier, Second and Nouveau Marchés totalled EUR 1,548 billion.
