Dr Steil, 36, is a Senior Fellow and holder of the Linda J. Wachner Chair in Foreign Economic Policy at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York. He is also a member of the European Shadow Financial Regulatory Committee, a member of the Advisory Board of the European Capital Markets Institute and the Editor of the International Finance.
His study of the impact of trading automation on trading costs and the securities industry, co-authored with Ian Domowitz and published last July, has been widely cited for its compelling analysis of the technological roots of the current revolution in market structure. His last book was a comprehensive and critically acclaimed study of The European Equity Markets, and he is currently co-authoring a major text on institutional investment.
